Christopher Walken knitting is the best thing I’ve seen this week. Watch until the end.
Travelling Ravs in Dresden Part II
So here is what else Ravsy got to see. Besides our walk through the city, Ravs spent the two weeks cuddeling with Ada and also looking out the window of my office at the university.
I will send Ravsy off to Sweden tomorrow to watwhatwat - have fun there Ravs! We will miss you
Travelling Ravs in Dresden Part I
We’ve had pretty bad weather. But finally spring came around and we could take Ravs out to the city to take some pictures.
There are so many places to go here in Dresden - look for yourself. It’s a beautiful city with lot’s of old old buildings and sights.
I hope you enjoy!
youtubeknits asked: Hi Cecilia,It's time for Travelling Ravs to head out to his next host! Have you got any more photos I could add to the blog? Thanks. -YouTubeKnits
Hello there! Yes, yes! I will post pics today and send Ravsy to his next host tomorrow!
Thanks for letting us take care of him :-)
Step by step I am knitting this cardigan! I am a little proud :D
So I have decided to be brave and knit a real piece of clothing for myself. I found this beautiful cardigan on ravelry - just stockinette stitch, open front, knitted in one piece from top to bottom with raglan technique (which I have already tried out).
So I buy this pattern and I assume that, since it costs money, it is well explained and I will be able to understand it - but I did not.
I would like to share the first page of the pattern - asking if you understand what to do AFTER casting on and knitting the set up row. …
Cast on 84 (86, 86, 88, 88, 90, 90, 92, 92, 94, 94) sts.
Setup row (WS): P3 (front), pm, p20 (sleeve), pm, p38 (40, 40, 42, 42, 44, 44, 46, 46, 48, 48) (back), pm, p20, pm, p3 (front).
Establish Neck and Raglan Increases
Note: neck increases will extend past the raglan increases.
RS: K1, M1L, *knit to 1 st before m, M1R, k1, sm, k1, M1L; repeat from * 3 times more, work to last st, M1R, k1. 10 sts increased.
Repeat neck increases every 6th row 14 (15, 15, 16, 16, 17, 19, 18, 20, 19, 21) times more as follows:
RS: K1, M1L, work to last stitch of row slipping markers as you come to them, M1R, k1. 2 sts increased. AT THE SAME TIME:
Repeat raglan increases every 4th row 5 (5, 3, 2, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0) times more as follows:
RS: *Work to 1 st before m, M1R, k1, sm, k1, M1L; repeat from * 3 times more, work to end of row. 8 sts increased.
Next row (WS): Purl to end.
Row 1 sleeve and back ONLY increase row (RS): *Work to m, sm, * k1, M1L, work to last st before m, M1R, k1, sm; repeat from * 2 times more, work to end. 6 sts increased.
Row 2 (WS): Purl to end.
Row 3 Sleeve and body increase row(RS):
*Work to 1 st before m, M1R, k1, sm, k1, M1L; repeat from * 3 times more, work to end of row. 8 sts increased.
Row 4 (WS): Purl to end.
Repeat these 4 rows 3 times more, then repeat Rows 3-4 0 (1, 6, 8, 12, 13, 15, 15, 17, 18, 19) times more. “
So I didn’t get it - I emailed the person who wrote the pattern and apparently you’re supposed to cast on, knit the set up row - and then start of with row 0 - being the first WS and then knitting the first explained increases every 4th and 6th row and once you have finished the 4th row repeatings - you’re supposed to start with the Sleeve and Back only increases … oookay - makes sense. NO IT DOESN’T!!!
I really don’t get it!
Why bother to write and sell a pattern if you don’t do it right???
Why squeeze the pattern-instructions on 4 pages if they don’t make sense?
Why don’t you use one f***ing page more to explain at least the first couple of rows and then say “hey now that’s how you do it, now continue”?
Why not tell people not to count the set-up row, and that the first actual row is counted as row No 0 ?
And hey - why don’t tell people that the whole piece is worked in stockinette stitch? I mean yes - I have seen the picture of the finished piece but still - IF I BUY A PATTERN FOR KNITTING A CARDIGAN IT MEANS I DON’T KNOW HOW TO KNIT A CARDIGAN
and IF YOU ARE SELLING A PATTERN YOU SHOULD EXPECT THAT PEOPLE WHO BUY THIS PATTERN ALSO NEED THIS PATTERN. AAAARGH!
It makes me really mad. I was so excited to knitting this piece. I ordered yarn in a color named “moon beam”.
I will start over tonight, hopefully getting something done.
sorry for the freak out. I am a person who really really appreciates it, when things are the way they are supposed to, and I try to do the same. When I promise something - I make sure to do it right. And it really really really upsets me when other people don’t.
look who has arrived in Germany!! Welcome to Dresden Ravs! We already had some family time - Ravs met Ada and together we checked out the new baby-clothes magazine, Ravs knows quite alot about fashion!
Tomorrow Ravs will come to work with me - to see the university (one of the elite universities in Germany) and this weekend we’ll check out the city and sights of Dresden. We will keep you posted.
